Abu Dhabi: All applications for visas for the United Kingdom made in the UAE must be paid for online by credit or debit card, before submission at the visa application centres in Abu Dhabi or Dubai, the British Embassy in Abu Dhabi said in a statement. The new regulation came into effect as part of a new system of the UK Border Agency. The agency is in the process of moving to an online application and payment system where almost all customers will apply and pay for their visas online. Visa fees should be paid in US Dollars by Visa or MasterCard credit or debit card. Payment using other types of credit or debit cards or in other currency cannot be accepted. When the online payment has been taken, the visa applicant will receive a confirmation email as proof of payment which should be taken to the visa application centre on the day of appointment. Applicants now arrange appointments at their own convenience and experience reduced waiting times at the visa application centres. The facility to make online payments will further enhance this service and is consistent with a wider global trend towards online transactions and payments. UK Visa Application Centre, Dubai Dubai: The
UK Visa Application Centre in
Dubai relocated to its new premises
and opened its doors to the public on 14/05/2009.
"By relocating,
we are providing improved services and a user-friendly experience for
all our customers. We are also offering education and tourism
services, as the
British Council and
VisitBritain will have kiosks there."
said British Consul General, Guy Warrington. ertwrrw y ey
The application
centre is located at the second floor of the Business Atrium Building
on Oud Metha Road, and is open from Sunday to Thursday, 9am to 5pm.
The improved
services also include better parking, more counters and staff, and an
expanded Premium Service, in addition to expert in-house advice for
students and a booth where they can book their examination for the
International
English Language Testing System (IELTS).
"The Premium
Service lounge is a dedicated space that has a high proportion of
staff to customers. It offers additional privacy, which can be very
beneficial to families," said Jackie Colton, Deputy Director of Visa
Services, Iran and the Gulf States, UK Border Agency.
The Premium
Service costs $40 (Dh147), and includes an SMS notification when the
visa application is complete. There are dedicated biometric booths,
and a one-stop-shop where you can buy tickets to tourist attraction,
such as Madame Tussauds and the London Eye.
UAE nationals can apply for a new
EVW (electronic visa waiver) each time they travel to the UK, and
there is no limit on the number of times the system can be used. A new
and improved version of the EVW system was introduced in the UAE in
May 2016.
Unlike the first version of the EVW system, which relied on passengers
entering their personal information exactly as it appears on their
passport, the new EVW form asks passengers to upload a copy of their
passport biographic data page so that details can be checked for
accuracy prior to travel.
This means that the vast majority of input errors are picked up,
significantly reducing the risk of issues when boarding or entering
the UK. The revised system also features questions in both English and
Arabic, making it easier for users in the UAE.
In a further improvement to the system which will offer greater
flexibility, EVW holders can now amend their flight details should
they need to change them after making their original application.
Changes will need to be made at least 48 hours before both the
original and new travel dates.
